Was listening to the radio yesterday and the commentators were discussing the concept of glass half full or half empty. They were asking each other what they identified with the most. To be quite honest, growing up hearing this concept I personally never understood why it even mattered in the first place.
I think I’ve heard it like this too (and then again I’m not sure it was this extravagant but I’ll try to paraphrase): It really doesn’t matter whether the glass is full or empty half way since it is still half.
This sounds great but I thought why not take it even further. So here’s my take on it…
… as long as we have the glass in the first place it’s still opportunity.
Maybe we really were looking at the glass all wrong before. It’s not like we can’t fill our glass, as long as we have the glass. In fact, who says we want what’s already in the glass? Maybe some (or all) of what is already in there should be poured out to make room for something better.
So for anyone still stuck on this glass is half concept, why bother? It isn’t worth stressing over. The glass can be whatever. We can do whatever with our own glass. Heck, we can even get a new glass.
Know that we all come upon this earth as a vessel of opportunity. We get to fill our lives by becoming who God made us to become. It is up to each us to take action to pursue the purpose to which we were called and get the results thereof.
Our own glass of opportunity is waiting on us to fill it from whatever level it is. We each have the power of pursuit.
As long as we have the glass we have opportunity.
