Have you noticed that in situations where you are trying to make faith connections, that some results take a lengthy time to manifest and others seem immediate. There must be a magic formula to this faith stuff, right?
Well, I am not entirely convinced that we may assert magic to be involved in the execution of faith. To date I have seen no such evidence.
However, there are specific things that we can latch onto that help us move to action and see the impact of our faith efforts. One of the things I have found is that faith results are related to the act of voicing your faith conviction, which matters more than the size of your faith. Telling is an action.
Use your action of faith regardless of your measure of faith.
A man noted to Jesus Christ, the Messiah, that His disciples could not cast out the demon from his son whom he stated was possessed. Then Christ scolded the disciples saying that they were an unbelieving and perverse generation and asked them how long He would have to put up with them. Then Jesus Christ rebuked the boy, and the demon came out and the boy was healed immediately. (Matthew 17:14-18)
Later, when the disciples asked why they could not cast out the demon, Jesus Christ noted their meager faith. Then He says, “…if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.” (Matthew 17:19-20)
You see, their faith was lacking from a size standpoint, but that wasn’t necessarily the true problem. Otherwise, the Messiah would have discussed only solving the size with an addition or increase. Nothing needed to be solved regarding their measure of faith. Recall that God gives us all a measure of faith, so who are we to say there’s something wrong with that measure?
Thus, Jesus Christ told them the secret to making their faith work, which was voicing what they wanted to happen because of their faith, not considering size. As an execution aspect of their faith, they needed to state the result so the objective of their belief would obey to completion.
Recall that faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). We use the substance and evidence and execute a corresponding action. In most cases, there is data or a reference point (substance and evidence) we can lean on for our faith.
For example, during Noah‘s day, as a data point, he had God’s word regarding a future flood because of the evil that was in the world. So, Noah moved to action and built an ark for saving his family as instructed.
With our reference point or substance and evidence in mind, speaking our convictions is also a move that we can implement as a step of faith. To examine and gage where we are in exercising our belief, let’s ask ourselves, ‘What do I believe regarding the results I want to happen in my life?’
Whether related to our profession, family, or other aspirations, there is something we strive to believe will occur. Considering our action of faith is needed more than valuing our measure of faith.
How relevant will you let meager faith be in your life?
