Plan for Excellence

Excellence is a collection of well-practiced habits that require deliberate effort rather than a singular achievement occurring with little intention. This post provides a plan to connect our minds and action with the concept of excellence by providing a practical, daily plan for focus rooted in Scripture. By dedicating a few days to intentional, diligent effort we can create a spiritual and momentum that outlasts a simple emotional spark. Excellence is often found in the details. This plan serves as assistance to help identify areas of mediocrity and replace them with the disciplined character that God desires for us.

Day 1 is the heart check.

  • Read Colossians 3:23.
  • Identify one task you usually slack on. Commit to doing it today as if Jesus Christ were your direct supervisor.

Day 2 provides a mindset evaluation.

  • Read Philippians 4:8.
  • Monitor your media intake. If it isn’t “excellent or worthy of praise,” turn it off and replace it with something that positively builds you up, like prayer.

Day 3 is a diligence assessment.

  • Read Proverbs 22:29.
  • Look at your workspace or review your primary craft. Spend 30 minutes organizing or studying to improve your capability in that area.

Day 4 relates to Daniel’s spirit of excellence.

  • Read Daniel 6:1-3.
  • Daniel was excellent because he was faithful and blameless. Today, prioritize being five minutes early on everything and keeping every promise you make.

Day 5 is about intentionally adding to your faith.

  • Read 2 Peter 1:5.
  • Faith is the start, but excellence is the supplement. Choose one spiritual characteristic (Galatians 5:22-23) to focus on intensely today.

TRANSFORMATION

Reflect: Reflect on your demonstration of excellence and opportunities for improvement.

Renew: What areas in your life can you revitalize and implement methods that will cause you to excel and your quality to increase? This is a great place to start.
